Access levels field definitions
What this is
Every value on a plant's Access tab. The model is in How access works on myPower24; the steps are in Manage who can access your plant. The level sits at the right of each row in People, as a dropdown you can change in place, and hovering it shows the description below.
The access levels
Each includes the ones below it.
Viewer- Sees readings and history. Changes nothing. Reads the plant's dashboards, live data, history and devices, and receives its notifications. Cannot give anyone access.Editor- Sees and configures the system. Cannot add or remove people. The same asInstalleron the plant. It is not offered when you add someone: it appears only on people whose access was converted from an older logger share, and it goes away when you set them to any other level.Installer- Sees and configures the system. Also edits the plant's details and settings and replaces its logger. Cannot give anyone access.Full control- Configures, and adds or removes people. Also adds and removes people and organisations on this tab. CalledOwneruntil it was renamed: see What changed about access.
The Owner badge
- Owner, gold, against the name - the registered owner, meaning who the plant belongs to. At most one per plant, set separately from access, and the only place the word Owner is used. A plant can carry
Full controlwith no Owner badge anywhere. See Who a plant belongs to.
Values on a row
- Name - the person's name, or the organisation's.
- organisation - the row is an organisation, so its level reaches every member.
- you - the row is your own account.
- Added directly - the access was given on this tab.
- Legacy logger share - the level came from the older sharing system, and reads
Editor, orFull controlwhere the person was the only one on the plant. The level is what applies. Removed like any other row; setting the person toViewerremoves the old share as well. - Organisation, N members inherit this - how many people the organisation's row reaches.
- Device capability only, no access level - a device control here but no level, tagged Capability only.
- Since - the date the access was given. There is no expiry date.
The filter chips
Everyone, Full control, Installer, Editor, Viewer, Capabilities and Legacy, each with its own count. The last three appear only on plants that have any.
The detail pane
Clicking a row opens a pane beside the list.
- Level - the level and its description, or None - device capability only.
- From - the source line from the row.
- Since - the date the access was given.
- Capabilities - the device controls this subject holds here, each removable.
- Changes - the last few access changes recorded against them here.
- Remove - takes away everything this plant gives them, level and capabilities together.
- Remove, greyed out - You cannot remove the last person with full control. Register an owner first, or hand the plant over.
Levels and device capabilities
A capability given on this tab covers one device control on this plant only, and works whatever level the person has here. A fleet-wide qualification from SolarMD is different: it works only where they can also configure the plant, which means Editor, Installer or Full control. Where they cannot, device changes are refused and the device page says View-only on this site.
Tips for reading levels in the wild
ViewerandInstallerlook alike until somebody tries to change a setting.Vieweris view-only whatever its source line says.- Read the
Full controlrows hardest: those people can widen access without telling you. - An organisation row with
InstallerorFull controlis stronger than it looks. What each member gets depends on what the organisation has handed them: see What your organisation can give its team.
