Manage who can access your plant

Manage who can access your plant

What this guide covers

Giving and taking away access on one plant, and recording who it belongs to. For what each level allows, see Access levels field definitions. For the model behind it, see How access works on myPower24.

Where to find it

Open the plant under All plants, then the menu under your username at the top right, then Plant settings, then the Access tab.

Who can do what

  • Full control: the whole tab, with its People, Pending and History views.
  • Viewer or Installer: only the Your access strip, with Remove from my account. On a plant with no registered owner, also Claim ownership.
  • Set owner and Clear owner are support actions, and appear only if your account may perform them.

The People list

One row per holder: their name, where the access came from, the level as a dropdown, and the date. The chips above narrow the list; clicking a row opens a pane with the detail and the Remove button. Empty, it reads Nobody has access to this plant yet. To change a level, pick the new one from the row's dropdown: raising it applies at once, lowering it asks first.

Step 1: Add a person

  1. Click Add someone and leave Who on A person.
  2. Pick the Level. Choose Viewer unless they genuinely have to change something.
  3. Type their full Email address and click Continue.
  4. If one account holds that address, click Add them now or Send an invitation instead. If several do, pick the right one. If none does, click Send invitation.

Added directly, the access is live the next time their plant list loads. An invitation works once, expires after 48 hours, and grants nothing until accepted.

Two things start the moment you grant. They begin receiving this plant's notifications on the in-app bell, with email and push opt-in. And Full control lets them give this plant to anybody else, including a whole organisation, without asking you.

Step 2: Add an organisation

Choose An organisation under Who, pick the Level and the organisation, then click Add organisation. This covers every one of its members, including later joiners, so you are trusting the organisation rather than a list of names.

Step 3: Take access away

Click the row, then Remove, and confirm: Everything this plant gives them goes: their access level and any device capability. Continue? Access adds up, so one person can be covered by two rows; removing the first does not remove the second.

Step 4: Answer requests and invitations

Pending lists people asking for access and invitations nobody has accepted. Approve gives Viewer, so raise the level in People if they need more. Deny, Resend and Withdraw are on the same rows, and History keeps the record either way.

Step 5: Record who the plant belongs to

Click Set owner, choose a person or an organisation, find them, type the required Reason, then Set owner. This also gives them Full control and costs nobody their access, as does Clear owner, which asks its own reason. See Claim or transfer a plant.

Search results inside the Set the owner dialog, with Select on each row

Common errors and fixes

  • They still see the plant after you removed them. A second row covers them, often an organisation row.
  • You cannot find the People list. You do not hold Full control here.
  • Remove is greyed out. You cannot remove the last person with full control. Register an owner first, or hand the plant over.

Tips and gotchas

  • Access does not expire, so review the list now and then.
  • The gold Owner badge and the Full control level are two different facts on one row.
  • To bring a colleague into your own organisation instead, see Invite someone to your organisation.
