Who a plant belongs to

Purpose

An installer configures forty plants and owns none of them. A homeowner owns one plant and only reads its data.

The registered owner is the person or organisation that a plant belongs to. A plant has one registered owner or none. An access level is a different item. It sets what a person can do on the plant. Many persons can have the same level.

Access Tab

• Ownership line: at the top of the tab. It shows Owner: and a name, or No owner set.
• Owner badge: a gold badge next to the name of the owner in the People list.
• Access level: the dropdown at the right of each row in the People list.

Plants with No Owner

No owner set is usual, mostly on older plants. On those plants, Full control is only an access level. It does not mean ownership.

Ownership History

SolarMD staff see this table in the History view of the Access tab, in Ownership. The system keeps each line and does not delete lines.

• Owner: the person or organisation
• How: SUPPORT, SCAN or HANDOVER
• Set: who recorded the owner, and when
• Cleared: who cleared it, and when, or current
• Reason: the reason that staff typed. It is empty for a scan or a hand-over, until a subsequent change clears the line and adds its own reason.

Tips

• A new owner gets Full control. If the owner is an organisation, its admins get Full control and other members get Viewer.
• Other people keep their access when the owner changes. If staff replace or clear an owner who is a person, that person changes to Viewer.
