Hand a new site over to your client
What this guide covers
You commissioned a plant under your own account and the client has no account yet. How they get onto it, and what happens to your own access on each route. For what each level allows, see Access levels field definitions.
Where to find it
Select the plant under All plants, then the menu under your username at the top right, then Plant settings. The Access and Hand over tabs are on that page.
Who can do what
Adopting a new logger with Accept & adopt gave you Full control. Once a logger has been adopted, anybody else who scans it is refused and offered Request access instead, so the client cannot get in by scanning. Pick a route by what your own access should look like afterwards.
- Hand over: client gets
Full control, you drop toViewer. - Invite: client gets the level you choose, you keep
Full control. - Client requests access: client gets
Viewerwhen you approve, you keepFull control.
Route 1: Hand the plant over
Open the Hand over tab, search for the client or type their address in or type an email address, then press Send offer and confirm.
Nothing changes until they accept. The offer lasts 48 hours, one open offer per plant, with Resend and Withdraw on the tab. On acceptance the client holds Full control and you drop to Viewer, though they can give you Installer back. Access held by your organisation is untouched.
Finish commissioning before you hand over. The moment the client accepts, you lose the ability to change device settings.
Route 2: Invite the client
On the Access tab, click Add someone, pick the Level, type the client's Email address and press Continue, then Send invitation.
They get a myPower24 plant invitation email. The link works once, expires after 48 hours, and lets them create their account. Your own access does not change.
Route 3: The client requests access
The client signs in, opens My access, then the Access Requests tab, searches by plant name, plant code, short name or logger serial (typed in full), and presses Request access. Their address has to be verified first, and at most five requests may be waiting at once.
You are emailed. On the plant's Access tab, open Pending and press Approve or Deny. Approval gives Viewer, so raise the level in People if needed. Unanswered requests lapse after 30 days.
Registered owner
None of these routes records who the plant belongs to: after commissioning the line reads No owner set. Either the client presses Claim ownership, then Start the claim, and scans the logger within 15 minutes; or you claim it first and tick Also transfer registered ownership on the Hand over tab. See Claim or transfer a plant.
Common errors and fixes
- The Hand over tab is missing. You do not hold
Full controlhere. - "Could not offer this plant - you may no longer hold it." Your access changed. Reload.
- "The offer was created but the email could not be sent - use Resend, or check the address." Check the address and press Resend.
- The client cannot press Request access. Their address is unverified. They send themselves a link from General settings, with Send verification email.
- "You cannot remove the last person with full control. Register an owner first, or hand the plant over." Give the client
Full controlfirst.
Tips and gotchas
- If you work as a company, grant your organisation
Installerbefore handing over. A hand-over demotes you personally, not your organisation. - Two people can hold
Full controlon one plant. That is normal.
