Accept an organisation invitation

Scope

How to accept an invitation to an organisation. For the sender, see Invite someone to your organisation. For organisations, see What organisations are for.

Location

• Email subject: SolarMD Organisation Invitation. Please DO NOT Reply
• Link: Accept Invitation. You can use it one time only. It expires 48 hours after the sender last sent it.

Permissions

• Account: use an account with the invited email address, or make a new account
• Email verification: not necessary

Step 1: Existing Account

1. In the email, click Accept Invitation.
2. If the page shows a sign-in form, type your Username and Password.
3. Click Sign in.
4. Click Accept.

The system adds you to the organisation and opens My Organisations.

Step 2: New Account

1. In the email, click Accept Invitation.
2. Click Create new account.
3. Type your First name, Last name, Username and Password.
4. Click Create account.

• Email address: the invited address. The form does not ask for it.
• Phone number: optional
• Password: 8 to 128 characters

The system makes the account and adds you to the organisation.

Membership

• Plants: Viewer and the notifications on each plant of the organisation
• Invitation as org admin: you also get the Admin page, and the level of the organisation on each plant
• More access: an organisation admin can give you more. See What your organisation can give its team.

Troubleshooting

• There is no Create new account button: An account already uses this address. Sign in to accept the invitation. Click Sign in and use that account.
• There is no Accept button: you used a different account. Click Sign in as someone else.
• The link has expired: This invitation has expired. The 48 hours ended, or the sender revoked it. Tell the sender to click Resend.
• You used the link before: This invitation has already been used. Open the login page and click Sign in.
• The link is not complete: Invalid Invitation link! Open the link from the email again.
• The sender is no longer an admin: The person who sent this invitation is no longer an admin of ... Ask a current admin to invite you again. Tell a current admin to click Resend. An account that you made stays.
• A different account uses the username: Username ... exists. Please try another name. Type a different username.
• The system does not accept the password: Password must be between 8 and 128 characters. Type a different password.

Tips and Gotchas

• If two or more accounts use the invited address, the first account that accepts gets the membership.
