SolarEdge 3 Phase - three-phase PV inverter
Description
- Device class: three-phase grid-tie PV inverter
- Brand: SolarEdge
- Name in My Devices: SolarEdge 3 Phase
- Tested models: SE25K and SE33.3K, with SetApp configuration
- Model on the device page: read from the inverter
- Serial number: read from the inverter when you add it
LoggerV Connection
| Interface | Protocol | Port or baud rate |
|---|---|---|
| Ethernet | Modbus TCP | 1502 by default |
| RS485 | Modbus RTU | 115200 baud by default |
- Modbus TCP: off on a new inverter. It works through the LAN port only, not Wi-Fi.
- One client only: the inverter accepts one Modbus TCP connection at a time. A second monitoring system on Modbus TCP blocks the LoggerV.
- Modbus Slave ID on Ethernet: 1 by default
- Modbus Slave ID on RS485: the Device ID set on the inverter, 1 to 247
- RS485 baud rate: 9600 to 115200. Set the same rate on the LoggerV port.
Plant Control Functions
- PV inverter: an active power limit, as a percentage of Max Active Power, written to the inverter in each control cycle while Gateway Power Control is On
- Limit check: the LoggerV reads the limit back after each write
- Limit refresh: the LoggerV writes the limit again every 25 seconds, inside the Command Timeout of the inverter
- Fall-back: when the limit stops for longer than Command Timeout, the inverter changes to Fall-back Active Power Limit
- Reported to plant control: Max Active Power, the active, reactive and apparent power, the lifetime energy
- Not commanded: reactive power, power factor, start and stop
A new inverter does not follow plant control until you set Gateway Power Control to On. The first time, the LoggerV enables advanced power control on the inverter, and the inverter stops production and restarts one time.

Wiring
The Add-Device wizard makes the connection diagrams; see How to add a device in myPower24.
- Ethernet: the RJ45 connector inside the inverter, through communication gland 1. Use a CAT5 or CAT6 cable.
- RS485: the RS485-1 or RS485-2 terminal, through communication gland 2
- Inverter configuration: with the SolarEdge SetApp app (SolarEdge Go), at Commissioning > Site Communication
Setup
- Connect the cable as the generated diagram shows.
- For Ethernet: in SetApp, select Site Communication > Modbus TCP > Enable. Note the port. The default is 1502.
- For RS485: in SetApp, set RS485-1 > Protocol to SunSpec (Non-SE Logger). Set RS485-1 > Device ID to a unique value from 1 to 247. Set RS485-1 > Baud rate if 115200 is not correct for the bus.
- Add the device on the LoggerV; see How to add a device in myPower24.
- For Ethernet: type the IP address of the inverter in IP Address:, type 1502 in TCP Port:, and type 1 in Modbus Slave ID:. The form shows 502, which is not the SolarEdge default.
- For RS485: type the Device ID of the inverter in Modbus Slave ID:.
- Click Try to connect.
- Open Info. Compare Max Active Power on the Nameplate card with the inverter rating.
- Open Settings > Dynamic Power Control. Set Gateway Power Control to On. If the inverter restarts, wait until it produces again.
- Open Actual Data. Make sure that Advanced Mode (inverter) shows Enabled, and that Active Power changes with the sun.
Device Page
- Info: General Info and Nameplate. Nameplate shows Max Active Power.
- Actual Data: Status, AC Output (3-Phase), DC / PV Input
- Settings: Dynamic Power Control, Watchdog / Fall-back, Ramp Rates
- Operating State: Off, Sleeping (night), Starting, Producing (MPPT), Throttled, Shutting down, Fault, Standby
- Throttled: the inverter limits its output, which is normal while plant control curtails it
- Healthy link: Operating State shows Producing (MPPT) or Throttled in daylight, and Active Power changes with the sun
- Enable Dynamic Power Control: the LoggerV sets this setting. Use Gateway Power Control instead.
Set Active Power Ramp-up Rate and Active Power Ramp-down Rate before you use plant control. At 0 %/min the inverter does not change its output. The LoggerV does not write these settings.
Troubleshooting
- "Not a SolarEdge SunSpec inverter @ slave N": the device at that address did not identify as a SolarEdge SunSpec inverter. Examine the IP address, the TCP port and the Modbus Slave ID.
- "Advanced power control is not enabled on the inverter - toggle Gateway Power Control On to commission it (the inverter restarts once).": set Gateway Power Control to On.
- "Committing advanced power control - the inverter is restarting; dynamic control resumes on reconnect.": the inverter restarts after the first Gateway Power Control On. Wait. The message clears when control starts again.
- "Failed to commission advanced power control: ...": the LoggerV did not enable advanced power control on the inverter. Record the message and contact SolarMD support.
- "Power-limit read-back ... != commanded ...": the inverter holds a different limit from the one the LoggerV wrote. Record the message and contact SolarMD support.
- "Inverter in Fault state": Operating State is Fault. See the inverter for the fault code.
- The limit has no effect: the limit is above the power that the sun gives. Plant control can only reduce output.

Tips and Gotchas
- Inverter restart clears dynamic control: after a restart or a night shutdown the inverter turns dynamic control off. The LoggerV turns it on again in 25 seconds or less while Gateway Power Control is On.
- Command Timeout: the device page accepts 60 to 3600 seconds, so the 25-second refresh is always inside it
- Gateway Power Control Off: the inverter goes back to full production, with no restart
