Huikongdianzi IO Module - digital input and output module
Description
- Device class: RS485 Modbus module with digital inputs and digital relay outputs
- Brand: Huikongdianzi (Huikong Dianzi)
- Name in Add Device: Huikongdianzi IO Module
- Name in My Devices: Huikongdianzi IO Module
- Models: one entry for all module sizes. All sizes use the same firmware and the same registers.
- Reference module: 8 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs
- Channels in the LoggerV: up to 16 inputs and 16 outputs
- Module size: the label on the module only. The module does not report its number of channels.
- Serial number: typed in when you add the module
- Supply: the voltage on the module label. Use a supply in that range.
LoggerV Connection
| Interface | Protocol | Port or baud rate |
|---|---|---|
| RS485 | Modbus RTU | LoggerV port Bus Speed |
| Ethernet | Modbus TCP | 502 by default |
- Ethernet: the module connects on RS485. For an Ethernet connection, use a Modbus TCP to RTU gateway.
- Baudrate options in the app: 4800, 9600, 14400, 19200 and 38400
- Factory serial settings: as on the module label or the supplier sheet. Set the LoggerV port Bus Speed to the same baud rate.
- Factory Modbus address: as on the module label or the supplier sheet
Plant Control Functions
- Manual output control: the IO Control page writes on or off to one output of the module.
- Plant control outputs: with the LoggerV IO outputs on, plant control drives an output as a switch output, for example for LOMAC.
- Plant control inputs: with the LoggerV IO outputs on, plant control and rules read the inputs of the module.
- Keep-alive: none. The LoggerV sends no watchdog command to the module.
When plant control drives an output, it locks that output. The IO Control page then cannot switch it. To turn on the LoggerV IO outputs, see Set up and arm LOMAC.
Do not use this module for a load that must stop when communication fails. The LoggerV sends no keep-alive, and no manual documents the module behaviour. Assume that the relays keep their last state.

- Recorded channels: only the channels up to Digital Input Count and Digital Output Count. The other channels have no value.
- State changes: the recorder keeps each change of state with its time.
- Value: the state that the module reports. Invert Polarity on the IO Control page does not change the recorded value.

Wiring
The Add-Device wizard makes the connection diagrams; see How to add a device in myPower24.
- LoggerV port: an RS485 port of the LoggerV
- RS485 terminals on the module: as marked on the module. Connect A (485+) to the LoggerV A, and B (485-) to the LoggerV B.
- Termination: on a long bus, or when the readings are unstable, put a 120 Ohm resistor across A and B at the two ends of the bus.
- Supply terminals: as marked on the module
- Digital inputs: the input type (dry contact or voltage) and the common terminal are on the module label. Do not put a voltage on a dry-contact input.
- Relay outputs: use the contact rating on the module label. For a larger load, switch a contactor with the relay.
- Address and baud rate on the module: with the DIP switches, if the module has them, or with Slave ID and Baudrate on the device page
Setup
- Connect the module as the generated diagram shows.
- Add the device on the LoggerV; see How to add a device in myPower24.
- Set the port Bus Speed to the baud rate of the module.
- Type the Modbus address of the module in Modbus Slave ID:.
- Type the number from the module label, or a site asset number, in Serial Number:.
- Click Try to connect.
- Open Settings > IO Configuration.
- Set Digital Input Count to the number of inputs on the module label.
- Set Digital Output Count to the number of outputs on the module label.
- Open the IO Control device. Give each new point a label with Edit Config.
- Open Actual Data. Make sure that each Input row follows its field contact.
- Switch each output once on the IO Control page. Make sure that the Output row on Actual Data follows.
A new module has both counts at 0. It then shows no inputs and no outputs on any page.
Device Page
- Actual Data (opens first): Input Status card with Input 1 to Input 16, and Output Status card with Output 1 to Output 16
- Values on Actual Data: Active or Inactive
- Rows on Actual Data: only the rows up to Digital Input Count and Digital Output Count
- Outputs on Actual Data: read only. Switch the outputs on the IO Control page.
- Settings, Communication Settings: Slave ID and Baudrate
- Settings, IO Configuration: Digital Input Count and Digital Output Count
- IO Control page, point names: the serial number and the channel, for example
<serial>:in1and<serial>:out1 - IO Control page, outputs:
ON (1)orOFF (0), with Tap to toggle below it - IO Control page, actions: Edit Config and View History
- Healthy link: the IO Control points of the module show the ONLINE state, and the Input rows follow the field contacts.
Troubleshooting
- "Failed to scan ID (device did not respond)": the module did not reply to the address read, so the LoggerV did not add it. Make sure that RS485 A and B are not swapped. Make sure that the port Bus Speed and the module baud rate are the same. Then examine the address.
- "Serial Number required. Please provide serial number": the Serial Number field is empty. Type a serial number, then click Try to connect again.
- "Serial number is required to add a Huikong IO module.": the scan request has no serial number. Use Try to connect with the Serial Number field filled in.
- "Command failed": the LoggerV refused the output command, or the write to the module failed. Plant control can have a lock on that output. Look for the output in the plant control switch settings, then examine the RS485 link.
- No rows on Actual Data or IO Control: Digital Input Count and Digital Output Count are 0. Set them on Settings > IO Configuration.
- "Command sent successfully" but the output does not change, on LoggerV 9.346 and earlier: the write to the module failed. Examine the RS485 link, then switch the output again.
Permissions
- See the device page, the IO Control page and the recorded data: any access level
- Change Slave ID, Baudrate, Digital Input Count and Digital Output Count:
Editor,InstallerorFull control - With
Vieweronly: the device page shows View-only on this site. - Switch an output on the IO Control page:
Editor,InstallerorFull control, on LoggerV releases after 9.346. Earlier releases check no access level. - Edit Config on the IO Control page: the LoggerV checks no access level.
- About the levels: see Access levels field definitions
Tips and Gotchas
- Wrong count: the module accepts a count that is larger than its number of channels. It gives no error. Examine the module label.
- Counts above 8: the register layout for modules with more than 8 inputs or 8 outputs is not tested.
- Lower count: the LoggerV removes the dropped points immediately, with their IO Control labels.
- Slave ID change: the module moves to the new address immediately, and the LoggerV follows it. You do not add the module again.
- Failsafe on the IO Control page: on a lost link, the page shows the failsafe value with the OFFLINE state. The LoggerV sends nothing to the module.
- Two modules on one line: give each module a different Slave ID before you connect the second module.
Do not change Baudrate unless you also change the LoggerV port and all other devices on the line. Baudrate changes the rate of this module only, and the module stops communication until the rates are the same.
