Add and connect devices in plant control

Scope

This guide puts the devices of a site on the Plant Control Diagram, with one line for each cable. See How plant control works.

Location

  • Path: My Devices, Plant Control System, then the Diagram tab.
  • Edit mode: the menu at the top left of the canvas, then Edit.

Permissions

  • Add, connect, change and remove devices: Editor, Installer or Full control.

Step 1: Device Points

The system adds a battery and a hybrid inverter on the logger with Enabled set to Enabled. It adds other devices with Enabled set to Disabled.

To add a grid, load, generator, PV meter or switch point:

  1. In the Diagram menu, click Add device.
  2. Select the Device Type.
  3. Type a Device Serial that no other point of that type uses.
  4. Click Save.

Set Rated Power and Max Limit before you set a new grid or generator point to Enabled. Both start at 0, and a Max Limit of 0 permits no import.

Step 2: Point Settings

  1. In the Diagram menu, click Edit.
  2. Double-click the point.
  3. On the Basic tab, set Enabled: to Enabled.
  4. On a grid or generator point, set Rated Power: to the rating of the connection.
  5. On the Max Limit tab, set the Default rule. See Build a rule list.
  6. Click Save.

Step 3: Lines

  1. Drag from a dot on one device to a dot on the other device of the cable.

Connect each grid, generator and load point to the meter or inverter that measures it.

  • Energy meter: input on the left. Connect the supply side to the input, or the reading changes sign.
  • Hybrid inverter: grid on the left, load on the right.
  • AC Control ATS: inputs on the left, input 1 at the top. Output on the right.

The AC Loops tab then shows each loop that the lines make, with its devices.

The AC Loops tab, showing each loop with its control type and device list

  1. Find the battery serial on the Diagram, for example hv_1 (high voltage, cluster 1).
  2. On each inverter or charger of that battery, set Storage Cluster ID: to the cluster number.
  3. Click Save.

Step 5: Switch Position

  1. On the Basic tab of the switch, set Input ID: to the logger input that reports the position.
  2. Set Input Polarity:. Straight reads the switch closed while the input is on.
  3. On an AC Control Switch, set Output ID: to the output that operates it.
  4. Click Save.

Troubleshooting

  • Device not added: Device [...] already exist: a point of that type uses that Device Serial. Type a different serial, then click Save again.
  • Device link: [...] already exist!: the two dots have a line.
  • can not locate storage data cluster ID: no battery of that voltage has that Storage Cluster ID.

Tips and Gotchas

  • To keep moved devices, click the save icon at the top right of the canvas.

To stop the control of a device, set Enabled to Disabled. Remove Device, on the Advanced tab, deletes the settings and rules of the device permanently.
