LOMAC statuses and settings field definitions
Description
LOMAC statuses, warnings, reasons and settings, grouped by where they appear. Read with How LOMAC works, Set up and arm LOMAC and How plant control works.
- LOMAC panel: the LOMAC entry in a device menu on the diagram. Status and Timeline tabs.
- LOMAC settings: the LOMAC tab of each load point, converter and switch.
- Presence settings: the Grid Presence or Generator Presence tab.
- Notation: values in
code, labels in bold.
State Banner
The large pill at the top of the Status tab. The line under it says what LOMAC sees on the bus.
INIT- waiting for every reading to arrive, after a LoggerV start, a lockout, a wind-down, a fault reset, Evaluate now or an interrupted transfer. Commands nothing. Clears by itself within Startup Settle Time; a reading still missing then raisesINPUTS_STALE.ON_GRID- a grid connection point supplies the bus and no converter is forming.ON_GENERATOR- a generator supplies the bus. LOMAC observes it and never forms onto a generator bus.ISLANDED- a forming level holds the bus in VF or VSG, and the bus is confirmed cut off from every grid and generator point.DARK- nothing supplies the bus. LOMAC responds to it without waiting out Dwell Time.TO_OFF_GRID- a transfer off grid is running. The load has no supply during it. Clears when the transfer ends.TO_ON_GRID- a transfer back to grid is running. Clears when the transfer ends.ABORT- LOMAC is stopping converters. A transfer failed, or the grid went again during a return. Or a converter reports a forming mode on a bus that is live or not confirmed cut off. In dry run LOMAC only reports it. Clears when the abort finishes.LOCKOUT- waiting out Abort Lockout after a counted abort. Clears by itself intoINIT. Evaluate now skips the wait; every other check still applies. A wind-down goes straight toINIT, with no lockout.FAULT_LATCHED- Max Consecutive Aborts reached. No transfer starts until someone clicks Reset fault. The fault survives a LoggerV restart. Find and fix the cause first.
Beside the state:
- dry run / live - the Dry Run setting.
- armed / not armed - armed means Dry Run is off, LoggerV IO outputs are on, the profile is not Disabled, and no fault is latched. The banner above then reads
ARMED: LOMAC can transfer the load. The load has no supply during a transfer. In dry run it readsDRY RUN: LOMAC monitors and makes plans only. An abort that started in live mode can still complete. - blocked - LOMAC cannot reach the mode the profile prefers. The Why LOMAC does not act card gives the cause.
- ready to switch - LOMAC wants a transfer and nothing stops it now. Shown in dry run too.
- isolated - no grid or generator point can reach the bus, counting every unconfirmed switch as closed.
- IO outputs off - LoggerV IO outputs are off. Nothing on this LoggerV can transfer until they are on.
Reset fault, Evaluate now and Abort transfer appear under the banner for advanced users only, each enabled only when it applies. Each asks for confirmation. Accepted. Waiting for the LoggerV status. means the LoggerV queued the request. The effect shows on the next status reading.
Target
The Target is what LOMAC wants the bus to be. The line below reads Target <value>: <reason>.
ON_GRID- supply from the grid.OFF_GRID- supply from a forming level.HOLD- stay as it is. LOMAC starts no transfer. The reason names why. Examples: profile Disabled, grid presence not yet known, IO outputs off, another load connection point deciding for this bus, or no supply available.
While a transfer runs, the reason reads transfer running: TO_OFF_GRID or transfer running: TO_ON_GRID.
Grid Presence
The Grid presence card has one row per grid connection point. Grid on bus, in the Load connection point card, is the value for the whole bus.
AVAILABLE- the grid is present and has stayed present for its Present Qualify Time:.UNAVAILABLE- the grid is absent and has stayed absent for its Absent Qualify Time:.UNKNOWN- no current reading, readings that disagree, or a change still being confirmed. LOMAC never transfers on it; the target isHOLD.
The bus reads AVAILABLE when any of its grid points does, and UNAVAILABLE only when all of them do.
Warnings
The Why LOMAC does not act card. Each row shows the warning, its message, the device to act on and its alert key. Every warning except the six notices also raises an alert on the plant control device. Each clears by itself when its cause goes.
IO_OUTPUTS_DISABLED-LOMAC blocked: IO service outputs off, switch positions unverifiable; enable IO service outputs. Enable them on the LoggerV IO outputs card.FEEDBACK_MISSING-LOMAC blocked: <switch> position unverified, wire its feedback input, orposition 2 unverified, wire the second feedback inputfor a transfer switch. Wire the named feedback input.GRID_PRESENCE_UNKNOWN-LOMAC holding: grid presence unknown, witness missing or stale. Check the grid point's meter or grid input.GRID_PRESENCE_QUALIFYING- notice.LOMAC holding: grid presence qualifying on <grid point>. Expected after every grid loss and return.GENERATOR_PRESENCE_UNKNOWN-LOMAC holding: generator <generator> presence unknown. Check the generator's reading.GENERATOR_PRESENCE_QUALIFYING- notice.LOMAC holding: generator presence qualifying on <generator>. Expected after a generator start or stop.INPUTS_STALE-LOMAC holding: readings older than <n> ms: [<readings>]. The named reading has stopped updating. Check that device's communication.NO_ELIGIBLE_LEVEL- no forming level has every member eligible. ReadsOff-grid unavailable: no forming level fully eligible,On grid despite off-grid profile: no forming level fully eligible, orLOMAC holding: active forming level ineligible, no replacement supply. The converter table's reason column says why.NO_PLAN- no set of switch moves reaches the target for any eligible forming level. The message names the cause, for exampleoff-grid blocked: bus reaches [<grid point>] via [<switches>], no LOMAC switch with feedback on that path. Wire and enable a switch on that path.off-grid blocked: [<converters>] on the island, not LOMAC-enabledmeans a converter with LOMAC support has LOMAC Enabled off. Enable it, or cut it off with a LOMAC switch.LEVEL_UNREACHABLE- notice.Level <n> unreachable: <device>. A higher eligible level cannot be put on the load, so a lower level forms instead. For the higher level to form, make the named device a LOMAC switch with feedback, or clear what blocks it.OPTED_OUT_ON_ISLAND- notice.<converters> on the island, not LOMAC-enabled. A converter with LOMAC support and LOMAC Enabled off is on a running island. LOMAC reports it and does not abort.SWITCH_MOVED_UNCOMMANDED-<switch> moved without a LOMAC command. A LOMAC switch changed position without a LOMAC command. Causes: a manual operation, another writer on its output, or a move finishing after an abort. Clears 5 minutes after the last such move. Check who operates that switch.BUS_DARK-Bus dark: grid unavailable, no forming level eligible, state <state>. No supply is available.PARTIAL_FORMING-Forming level <n> partial: no fresh forming mode from [<converters>]. Check the named converter.CONTRADICTION- the state detail line, for examplecontradiction: converter(s) [<converters>] report a grid-forming mode while [<grid point>] is live on the same bus. Check the named converter's mode.PROFILE_DISABLED_OFF_GRID-LOMAC holding <state>: profile Disabled, no SOC limit, no return to grid. Off grid, Disabled also stops the return to grid at Leave Off-grid Below. To send the bus back to grid, use On-grid priority.PRIMARY_AMBIGUOUS-LOMAC blocked: <n> points with a profile, <m> flagged primary, need exactly 1: <points>. Set Primary For This Bus: on exactly one.PROFILE_IGNORED- notice.LOMAC profile on <point> ignored: <primary> is primary on this bus.PLUGIN_CONFLICT-LOMAC blocked: gridModeSwitching plugin also commands converter modes; disable the plugin or set profile Disabled.RETURN_HELD_STALE-LOMAC return held: no fresh mode reading from <converters>. The grid is back, but a named converter has no current mode reading, so the return does not start. Check that converter's communication.RESTORE_PENDING- notice.<converters> starting PQ after grid return. After a return, a converter with no grid switch of its own is not in grid mode yet. Normal while it syncs to the grid.RESTORE_NOT_RUNNING-<converters> not in PQ 600 s after grid return. The converter is still not in grid mode. The load is on the grid. Check the converter.
Converter Table
The Storage converters card. Eligible reads yes, or no with a reason and a detail line. Only the first failing reason shows, in this order:
NOT_ENABLED- LOMAC Enabled is off on this converter.MODE_UNSUPPORTED- the driver declares no off-grid mode LOMAC can command, or not the one in Forming Mode. Detaildriver does not support mode switching: the driver has no LOMAC support, and no setting changes that.DRIVER_BLOCKED- the converter reports that LOMAC cannot command it now, for exampleconverter in auto mode. Fix it on the converter.OFFLINE- the converter is not connected.SOC_WINDOW_INVALID- Leave Off-grid Below is not below Enter Off-grid Above.SOC_MISSING- the converter has no battery state of charge linked to it.SOC_STALE- the state of charge reading has stopped updating.SOC_BELOW_ENTER- its forming level is not forming, and state of charge is below Enter Off-grid Above. Clears as the battery charges.SOC_AT_OR_BELOW_LEAVE- its forming level is forming, and state of charge is at or below Leave Off-grid Below.PERMIT_DENIED- Off-grid Permit does not evaluate to Permitted.
The other columns:
Off-grid permit - allows off grid or blocks off grid, with the value. no data when the permit was not evaluated.
Grid switch - the converter's own grid switch, closed, open, or none where it reports none.
Claimed - the load connection point that has taken this converter out of normal plant control, or no.
Confirmation - whether the converter's mode matches the request:
CONFIRMED- the requested mode reads back.NO_REQUEST- nothing requested.DECODED_BEFORE_REQUESTorSTALE- no current reading since the request.MODE_MISMATCH- a different mode reads back.SWITCH_UNKNOWNorSWITCH_MISMATCH- its own grid switch is unknown, or not where that mode needs it.
The Forming levels card lists each level's members, whether it is Eligible, Forming and Selected, and the reason for each blocking member. Selected is the highest eligible level LOMAC can put on the load.
Switch Positions
The Switches card, one row per switch and one per transfer switch input.
Position:
CLOSED- feedback confirms the switch is closed.OPEN- feedback confirms the switch is open.UNVERIFIED- not confirmed: still moving after a command, feedback disagreeing, or feedback offline. LOMAC treats it as closed when proving the bus is cut off.NO_FEEDBACK- no feedback input is wired. Feedback age readsno feedback. LOMAC never commands it.
Reason:
NONE- position confirmed.IN_TRANSIT- commanded, feedback not yet matching, inside the switch's allowed time. Clears by itself.DISCREPANCY- the allowed time passed and the feedback still disagrees with the command. A running transfer aborts. Check the switch and its feedback wiring.FEEDBACK_OFFLINE- the feedback input's device is disconnected or its reading has stopped updating.NO_FEEDBACK- no feedback input is wired.
On the switch's own LOMAC tab the same result reads, for example, PIn1-POut1: CLOSED · verified, commandable, not commandable by LOMAC, or LOMAC unable to verify position: no feedback input wired. A reason other than NONE follows in brackets, for example (IN_TRANSIT).
Transfer Outcomes
The Timeline tab lists transfers newest first. Each has a pill and a direction: off grid, on grid, or observation for an abort outside a transfer.
RUNNING- in progress.ABORTING- LOMAC is stopping converters. The Status tab readsStopping converters: <reason>.COMPLETE- finished. ReadsCompleted in <n> s, <n> switch operation(s) verified.ABORT CONFIRMED- aborted, every converter confirmed stopped or in grid mode. Counts towards Max Consecutive Aborts.ABORT TIMEOUT- aborted, and the converters listed afterunconfirmed=did not confirm within Mode Change Timeout. Check them on site. Counts as an abort.WIND_DOWN CONFIRMED/WIND_DOWN TIMEOUT- the grid went again during a return (grid lost), or LOMAC stopped evaluating the load connection point. Someone disabled or deleted the point, or set its profile to Disabled with no scheduled rule. Not counted, and no lockout.INTERRUPTED- the LoggerV's LOMAC evaluation failed part way. LOMAC released everything and started again fromINIT. Not counted.SUMMARY- a record saved by older LoggerV software, shown as text.
A transfer that did not complete reads Aborted at <step> after <n> s: <reason> on <device>., followed by its outcome. The reasons:
position discrepancy- a switch's feedback disagreed with its command past the allowed time.feedback offline- a switch's feedback input went offline.unverified position- LOMAC had no confirmed position for a switch it had to move, or no way to command it.mode timeout- a converter did not confirm its requested mode within Mode Change Timeout.mode mismatch- a forming converter did not report its Forming Mode within Mode Change Timeout.partial level- within Mode Change Timeout, some members of the forming level started forming and others did not.converter offline- a converter the transfer uses went offline.converter blocked- a converter reported that LOMAC cannot command it.unpredicted topology- the plant changed outside the transfer. A switch moved, a converter's Forming Level or Forming Mode changed, or two load connection points tried to control one bus.isolation not reached- the bus still had a path to a grid or generator point.isolation lost- the bus stopped being confirmed cut off before the island was proven.forming source appeared- a converter started forming where the transfer needs none: outside the forming level, or on the way back to grid.contradiction- a converter reported forming while the bus had a confirmed path to a grid or generator point. Or converters of two forming levels formed at the same time.grid lost- on the way back, the grid point stopped readingAVAILABLE. A confirmedUNAVAILABLEatCONNECT,RESTOREorVERIFY_GRIDaborts at once, and the transfer ends as a wind-down.grid not verified- LOMAC found no confirmed connection from the bus to an available grid point.claim failed- a converter did not come under LOMAC's control in time.step timeout- a switch did not confirm its new position within its travel time plus Switch Timeout Margin.inputs stale at check- a reading needed at a check stayed missing past the step's time.operator- an advanced user clicked Abort transfer.arming withdrawn- something disarmed LOMAC during the transfer:- dry run turned on
- IO outputs turned off
- the profile set to Disabled
- the gridModeSwitching plugin attached to the plant
- LOMAC Enabled cleared on a device the transfer uses
- the load connection point no longer deciding for its bus
permit withdrawn- going off grid, a forming converter's Off-grid Permit stopped reading Permitted.
Transfer Steps
The step a transfer stopped at, in the order the steps run. The Status tab prints them with spaces, and the step lists on the Timeline tab in lower case. The abort line and the transfer list print the name as it is, for example CHECK_ISOLATION.
Off grid:
EVALUATECLAIM- LOMAC takes the converters from plant control.STOP_NON_FORMING- converters outside the forming level stop, and so does a level member with no grid switch of its own.ISOLATE- switches open.CHECK_ISOLATIONFORM- the level starts forming.VERIFY_ISLAND
On grid:
EVALUATECLAIMUNFORM- the forming converters leave the forming mode.CHECK_NO_FORMERCONNECT- switches close.RESTORE- converters return to grid mode.VERIFY_GRID
After an abort the Steps card adds abort recovery. A step marked not reached never ran.
Settings
Every field below is on a LOMAC tab, or on a presence tab where noted. The dialog's Save stores it. The LOMAC tab opens with a one-line live verdict, such as LOMAC not evaluating this bus or Not eligible: SOC_BELOW_ENTER.
Changing any of these settings needs Editor or higher on the plant and the advanced role. Each tab says Changing LOMAC settings needs the advanced role. A refused save shows the LoggerV's text beside Save. Example: Not saved: Permission denied! Required permission [advanced] to change: lomacDryRun. It usually also shows the message Not qualified for this control, which ends Settings: with the settings it refused.
Load Connection Point
- LoggerV IO outputs: a card, not a field.
On. Switch positions can be verified.orOff. LOMAC is holding every bus and the pickers below are empty.Enable needs theadvancedrole and applies to every plant control relay on the LoggerV. Afterwards reload the page and restart the LoggerV. - LOMAC Profile: Disabled (holds position) (default), On-grid priority or Off-grid priority. Takes a schedule like any plant control rule. The panel shows it as
DISABLED,ON_GRID_PRIORITYorOFF_GRID_PRIORITY. - Primary For This Bus: which load connection point decides where two or more on one bus have a profile other than Disabled. Exactly one must be Primary. Default Not primary.
- Dry Run: on (the default), LOMAC evaluates and shows a plan and commands nothing. Armed lets it transfer.
- Dwell Time: (
s, default 300, 0 off) steady time before a planned switch back. Never delays the response to a grid loss. Keep the default unless support asks. - Mode Change Timeout: (
s, minimum 5, default 60) how long a converter has to confirm a mode change. Keep the default unless support asks. - Switch Timeout Margin: (
s, default 2) allowance added to a switch's travel time. Keep the default unless support asks. - Startup Settle Time: (
s, minimum 5, default 30) how longINITwaits for readings. Keep the default unless support asks. - Abort Lockout: (
s, default 60, 0 off) wait after an abort before LOMAC tries again. Keep the default unless support asks. - Max Consecutive Aborts: (default 3, 0 unlimited) aborts in a row before
FAULT_LATCHED. Keep the default unless support asks. - Freshness Window: (
loops, minimum 2, default 3) a reading older than this many loops counts as missing. Keep the default unless support asks.
Storage Converter
- LOMAC Enabled: opts the converter in. Default Disabled: LOMAC never commands it. Off on a converter with LOMAC support that shares the island blocks off grid for that level.
- Forming Level: (default 0) converters with the same number form the bus together. LOMAC chooses the highest level with every member eligible that it can put on the load. Give one number only to converters wired to run in parallel.
- Forming Mode: VF (voltage-frequency) (default) or VSG (virtual synchronous generator). The driver must declare it.
- Enter Off-grid Above: (
%, default 40) state of charge needed to start forming. - Leave Off-grid Below: (
%, default 20) state of charge at which the converter must stop forming. Must be below the enter value. - Off-grid Permit: Permitted (default) or Not permitted. Takes a schedule or an input, like any plant control rule.
AC Control Switch
- LOMAC Enabled: lets LOMAC operate the switch. Default Disabled. When on, LOMAC is the only writer, and the Switch Control tab's schedule is shown but not applied.
- Feedback Input: the auxiliary contact that reports the real position, on a different input from the output. Default None: the position stays unconfirmed and LOMAC does not command it.
- Feedback Polarity: Straight (default) or Reversed, where 1 means open.
The switch's output is Output ID on its Basic tab.
Transfer Switch
- LOMAC Enabled: lets LOMAC operate the transfer switch. Default Disabled.
- Transfer Output: the output that selects the input: 1 selects input 1. Default None: read only.
- Output Polarity: Straight (default) or Reversed, where 0 selects input 1.
- Input 1 Feedback: the auxiliary contact for input 1. Default None.
- Input 1 Polarity: Straight (default) or Reversed, where 1 means input 1 is not connected.
- Input 2 Feedback: the auxiliary contact for input 2. Default None: LOMAC does not transfer to input 2.
- Input 2 Polarity: Straight (default) or Reversed, where 1 means input 2 is not connected.
Grid and Generator Connection Point
On the Grid Presence tab of a grid connection point, or the Generator Presence tab of a generator connection point. The tab says Changing grid presence settings needs the advanced role. or the generator form.
- Grid Presence Input: / Generator Presence Input: the relay contact that reports the supply. It must agree with the meters it can see. Default None: meters only. On a grid point, wire it upstream of any grid contactor LOMAC opens.
- Input Polarity: Straight (default) or Reversed, where 1 means the supply is absent.
- Absent Qualify Time: (
s, minimum 2, default 5) the supply is absent this long before it counts. - Present Qualify Time: (
s, default 60) the supply is present this long before it counts. On a grid point, this is the wait before a return.
Set Dry Run to Armed only when the dry run plan is correct. Armed lets LOMAC move switches and change converter modes, and every transfer interrupts supply to the load.
Side-Effects Summary
- Dry Run set to Armed: LOMAC starts transfers.
- Every transfer: supply to the load stops for the transfer.
- Enable on LoggerV IO outputs: changes how every plant control relay on the LoggerV is driven.
- LOMAC Enabled on a switch: its Switch Control schedule stops driving it.
- A claimed converter: leaves normal plant control while LOMAC holds it.
- Plant alerts: every warning raises one, except the notices
GRID_PRESENCE_QUALIFYING,GENERATOR_PRESENCE_QUALIFYING,PROFILE_IGNORED,LEVEL_UNREACHABLE,OPTED_OUT_ON_ISLANDandRESTORE_PENDING. - Counted aborts:
ABORT CONFIRMEDandABORT TIMEOUTcount towards Max Consecutive Aborts; reaching it latchesFAULT_LATCHED. A wind-down does not count and starts no lockout. - Reset fault: clears the latch, the abort count and the lockout, and starts again from
INIT. - Evaluate now: skips the lockout only.
- Abort transfer: takes the converters out of forming mode and releases held switches. No switch moves, and the load can stay without supply.
Tips
No LOMAC status, or no load connection point is active.means no load connection point is enabled with a LOMAC profile, or the last evaluation failed. The app cannot tell the two apart.- After five failed readings the panel shows
LOMAC did not answer. It keeps the last answer and addsThe data is from the last answer and is not live. - An age in red with
staleis past the limit set by Freshness Window. A redno datameans no reading has ever arrived. not primaryon the verdict line of a bus with one load connection point is harmless: a single load connection point always decides.- The input pickers stay empty after Enable until you reload the page.
- A
GRID_PRESENCE_QUALIFYINGwarning and a shortHOLDafter every grid loss or return are normal. - Disabled (holds position) is not "back to grid". Off grid it keeps the island and stops the state of charge return.
- The LoggerV keeps the timeline's events in memory and clears them on a restart.
- No LOMAC tab on a device means its LoggerV software does not support LOMAC.
